How to Measure People's Productivity?

Usually, professional service companies do not have data sources like production or distribution companies. Their primary resource is person-hours dedicated to billable client projects.

So, how can you determine the sales capacity for taking on new projects? How can you have a complete view of the business at any given moment?

Data in a Service Company

LIN3S’ initial challenge was to convert existing information into data from multiple perspectives:

  • Resources consist of available hours for each person, which are associated with sales prices and costs. This determines each person’s production capacity, taking into account a certain number of unavoidable non-productive hours (organizational meetings, etc.). The people database consolidates all this information for incorporation into the process.
  • Projects entering development are defined in documents, briefings that determine the teams and people responsible for execution. These documents are automatically consolidated into a data warehouse.
  • Project dedication is managed through time allocation tools available in the market. Information access is done through APIs to extract and transfer data to the data warehouse.
  • Other applications, such as customized schedule planners, also allow for visibility of team and individual occupancy ratios. This information is consolidated in the cloud for joint exploitation with the rest of the data.
Data Processing and Visualization

Once all data sources are consolidated, it’s only necessary to combine them to obtain relevant business information in terms of calculated metrics and KPIs.

Knowing the degree of annual goal achievement, productivity levels, project execution progress, and available hours for new projects is now possible at LIN3S, both at the company level and at any level of detail – team or individual.
